It Starts With Me

Faith + Encouragement

Pondering, musing, and reflecting about faith, stories, and life. My greatest desire is to give the reader a small nudge towards change, but I will always take the step first.

Family + Autism

Sharing the lessons we learn through our Scottie. The paradox within autism is real and powerful - living with autism is hard, but it is also amazing.

Community

After 2 1/2 years living in the Dominican Republic, we returned home and are rediscovering what it means to live in community.

Why I Write

I observe. I watch people. I ask them questions. I listen to what they say, but also I hear what they are not saying. I feel an idea rising, words swirling in my head, and the sentences begin to form and I cannot quiet the noise until I sit down and write. Writing is something I feel compelled to do. It helps me to process life, and the observations and stories from my writing often propel me towards change. Often that change is simple and small. But, sometimes the change alters the course of my life. My desire is to offer encouragement and hope. If those who read my writing feel seen and known, it is there that I find my why.

“you can, you should, and if you’re brave enough to start, you will”
